Wild Pen is a small batch coffee roaster - based in Pendle, Lancashire - In the sight of our own iconic Pendle Hill with its wild beauty, the history of Witch Trials, mystery and character - with plenty of changes in weather and rain - so we named ourselves "Wild Pen  Coffee Roasters " 

 

We are committed to sourcing the finest coffee beans from Costa Rica and bringing the unique aromas and best flavour of Costa Rican coffee to you - we traveled to Costa Rica to meet with the owner and coffee growers at Aquiares Farm - our main coffee supplier of our single source sustainable Arabica coffee. 

 

Experiencing the Rainforest and coffee farm - we were privileged to stay at the Aquiares family Hacienda, in the setting of the Turrialba Volcano and cloud forest. We enjoyed a personal tour of the farm and processing plant and were taken on a horseback ride, passing through the village, talking with local people, and traversing along paths between the coffee trees.

 

We fell in love with Costa Rica, its people and coffee and commitment to sustainability - and as the Ticos say " Pura Vida ".

 

Wild Pen Roasts

We roast our coffee in small batches and bring an artisan craft to ensure the best quality and taste for our customers - the roast is a City to Full City - bronzed, medium roast, balanced and versatile. This roast is well developed with good body and lingers nicely on the palate. The city-full city roasted coffee is great for most preparation methods including espresso, pour-overs and French press and of course cappuccinos and lattes
